Study on the role and perspective of regional government in Bhutan

In 1980s, the government of Bhutan developed framework of regional government, and certain authorities and fiscal revenues was delegated to the regional government. For rural development, however, top-down approach initiated by the central government has been taken up and the role of regional government has been unclear. The study aims to clarify the present work of the regional government and examine its role for rural development.

Study on particatory approach for rural revitalization through questonnaire survey by university students

Although participatory approach of community or residents has been fundamental method for rural development, participation of residents has been excluded on the process of data collection such as questionnaire survey. This study aims to submit participatory interview survey by university students and following workshop as one of the approaches for practice-oriented area studies.

Study on homestead garden in Ayeyarwady delta for disaster mitigation and sustainable rural development

Cyclone Nargis killed the tens of thousands people in Ayeyarwady delta of Myanmar in 2008. On the other hand, people living in Bangladesh have developed several knowledges and technices for cyclone prevention such as “bari-bhiti” homestead. This study aims to reveal the role of homestead garden already existing in Ayeyarwady regaion to introduce the technices of “bari-bhiti” and examine its affinity.
